Calming Anxiety – TQ/L2&3

Calming Anxiety – TQ/L2&3

Anxiety Calming is not always easy, and this can especially be the case with the Akita breed. The Akita is best when knowing when Anxiety Moments are allowed and when the Akita should be Calm.

Anxiety in the Akita should be addressed at all levels, as while a little Anxiety is a normal behaviour, if Anxiety is not addressed it can lead to Aggressive Behaviour. All Anxiety behaviours can be addressed with proper training but the earlier Anxiety is addressed the easier the path to positive behaviours.

The following Videos capture a ‘Technique’ used with Zeus to address his Anxiety Behaviour. With Zeus the Anxiety Behaviour has been trained to take effect in ‘The Security Behaviour’ setting before his rescue adoption. Managing the behaviour is the first place to start so we introduce Calming Behaviours and later work with the Anxiety in training.

Summary Overview
On this course the Owner Handler will learn about the types of Anxiety the Akita Breed experiences. The amount of behaviour training sessions required to see the behaviour cues are constant, regular and become a standard Positive Behaviour of the Akita. The Quotient Focus is on the emotional improvement of the Akita’s Positive Reaction and Correct Calm Behaviour.

The important focus is on the Akita to maintain the calmness and enjoyment of being close to Swans in the same water and to share the space. If the Swans come to close the handler can move the dog, but it is more difficult to control Swans who display ‘Wing Flapping’ if excited.

Wing Flapping is know to be a Swan Aggression Alert to other animals and birds
and should be avoided as Swans can be very ferocious in their behaviour.

Zeus Calming Anxiety – Loves to Walk near The Swans

The Akita Dog is highly intelligent and is trainable but it comes
with patients, discipline, love and respect.

Calming Anxiety Experiences, such as being close to other animals in a clam state installs a very strong Calming Instinct Behaviour in the Akita Dog. Once the Akita is properly trained they can be Introduced to the Swans in the same environment.

Akita Dogs do not behave the same way towards all animals and assessment will be required to ensure successful temperament adjustment for a Calmness Experience. Horses also provide the Akita with Anxiety reduction but must always be introduced carefully to gain the Calmness Experience for Positive Behaviour Outcomes.
